Loop and Rapidemic are the big winners of the Philips Innovation Award 2021
Loop and Rapidemic can call themselves the winners of the Philips Innovation Award 2021.During the very first Hybrid Grand Final of the Philips Innovation Award, they received the prize for the most innovative student start-up in the Netherlands from Frans van Houten, CEO of Royal Philips and chairman of the jury.
Bob Hendrikx, founder of Loop is the winner of the Innovator prize. He will go home with a prize package worth €50,000. With his living coffins made of mycelium,Loop hopes to be able to take the next steps. “We are going to buy a Loop forest in which we buy polluted soil from municipalities,” says Hendrikx.
The winner of the Rough Diamond prize is Violette Defourt from Rapidemic and she will receive a prize package worth €10,000. Rapidemic responds to the current corona pandemic with a test method that can be used immediately with rapidly spreading viruses. Violette: “I thought it was a great and instructive evening, we were not only able to connect with all the other startups, but also with the jury and partners”.
In addition to the winners, the participants who did not win the prizes also benefited greatly from the guiding process of the Philips Innovation Award. Partly through coaching, training and the network of partners associated with the award, all participants are challenged to improve their business plans. This ishow the Philips Innovation Award motivates entrepreneurs of the future to take their first steps.
The organization of the Philips Innovation Award: The Philips Innovation Award is an independent non-profit organization that works closely with and is sponsored by, among others, Royal Philips.
